Blackout lining not only helps to block out the amount of light entering the room but also gives additional thermal benefits by keeping the room warmer in winter and cooler in summer when drawn.
During the Spring months children often struggle going to sleep during lighter nights as well as staying asleep during lighter mornings. To help combat this we recommend blackout lining in bedrooms. Also suitable for day sleepers/shift workers.
Alongside this offer we are also giving 10% off our trade prices on all Roller and Vertical blinds too.
What are the benefits of Blackout Lining compared with Thermal Lining?
· Better thermal qualities in winter.
· Keeps heat out in summer.
· Keeps out sunlight on early summer mornings and for shift workers throughout the day.
· Helps prevents fading of face fabric and furniture.
· Unlike some Blackout linings - Finesse Blackout lining has a soft drape.
What Are Blackout Curtains?
Blackout curtains are designed to darken a room.
When fitted correctly they will block out unwanted light. From a bright sun beam through to street and car light that is disturbing your sleep.
Blackout curtains can also help to reduce noise from outside and, save you some money on heating bills, keeping your room warmer in the winter months, and cooler in the summer months.
Blackout lining is produced by coating the face fabric with 1x layer of white to keep the face fabric to the correct shade, 1x layer of blackout coating to block the light and a final layer of white coating to create a ‘3 pass’ blackout effect.
What Are Thermal Curtains?
Thermal curtains are ideal to reduce draughts at the window and keep the heat in your room. They will block out some light and can muffle out any loud noises since they can act as a sound barrier. Our thermal lining has a raised/brushed reverse that helps to trap air and keep in warmth whilst also giving the drape extra body for a more luxurious finish.
Thermal vs Blackout: What are the differences?
The key differences between the two types of curtains are that blackout curtains were designed primarily to block out light while thermal curtains are intended to keep a room warm or cold.
Blackouts curtains can help with temperature control in the same way as a thermal curtain/blind, but also reduce the amount of light entering a room.
Thermal curtains will keep the warmth in and the cold out of the room. The drape looks fuller and the hand feel is softer. It will not block out as much light as a blackout lining.
